It's For My RP Spec!

Rolling on dresses since 2005.

A funny thing happened on the way to the instance…

Holy cats, it’s been over two years.  Whooooops.

We’ll just move past that and right into the updates!

I DID A PODCAST.  Actually, I was a guest on The Peeples Forum for the second time.  First time was about Walking Dead, this time was about WoW!  You can list here: The Peeples Forum.

I picked up raiding again in Cataclysm, then stopped late in Mists of Pandaria yet again.  I know, hot and cold, right?  Anyway, I have been raiding for what seems like forever (which I  say with all fondness) and now I am focused on another hobby IRL: the Society for Creative Anachronism.  (And no, it’s not LARPing, but thanks for asking.)

That being said, I got to enjoy the tail end of MoP and now into Warlords of Draenor very, very casually.  For example, I didn’t play on release day… I was out of town, because Blizzard decided to not do a release on Tuesday for the first time ever when I wouldn’t be here… and it was okay.  I wanted to play but I didn’t panic.  That’s a big step from needing to hit max level fast to get into raids ASAP.  I also got some time to just level alts, farm transmog stuff, and overall just hang out in game.

Speaking of leveling alts, I closed out MoP with a staggering 14 level 90’s.  Yes, that’s duplicating some classes, and no, it’s not five extra priests… only three this time.  More on those alts (with their MoP pre-updated model screenshots) after the jump.

Oh hi!

Clearly, another unexpected hiatus happened.  I recently accepted an amazing career opportunity that is occupying much of my time and, as you can see from above, Ashes has started raiding again!  I’m still planning on working The Lonely RP Project, so fear not!  The girls will be back.

The Agony and the Ecstasy of Scroll of Resurrection, MoP Beta, and the Unannounced “Hiatus”

Oh dear.  It has been a ridiculous amount of time since I posted here.

LET’S FIX THAT.

I’ve been kept away mostly by work, unfortunately.  Things are a bit crazy (and will continue to be for a bit, sadly) but I’m doing my best to come back.  Meanwhile, if you know of any other awesome fashion blogs besides the ones I link in the sidebar, please let me know so I can add them to the blogroll!

MoP beta invites started last night!  As a long-time subscriber and also early adopter of the Annual Pass, I’m hoping for an invite fairly soon but who knows?  I’m incredibly excited to get a look at the new gear and weapons and also just bask in the beauty of Pandaria in general.

Just so this isn’t a fashion-less post, I have something silly to share.  Like Tyrael’s Charger, I knew from moment one that I would be completely unable to resist the siren song of the Spectral Wind Rider for Tanwen.  Fortunately, I have a secondary, on-again-off-again account that I used for a zhevra mount (and crazy-fast leveling of a druid and my second ever priest).  It lapsed sometime in 2011 and I assumed it would remain dead.  BUT.  Scroll of Resurrection just had to come along, didn’t it?

So I got to thinking… what am I missing?  What class do I not have at level 85?  Thus far, I have (get ready for this) four priests (belf, belf, human, and goblin), a paladin (belf), a mage (troll), a warlock (human), a druid (tauren), and two hunters (human and human).  I have a shaman at 80 (troll) and one at 83 (spacegoat).  I have a warrior at 73 (human)  A DK at 76 (belf).  And a rogue at… 27 (human).  Wow.  I could probably make a post about all of their “standard” outfits and… wait, I’m getting off track here.  The warrior, shamans, and DK will easily make it to 85 if I put my mind to it.  But a rogue… man, I am bad, bad, B-A-D, BAD at rogues.  How I even got to 27, I’ll never know.  I love the idea of a rogue, I really do.  I enjoy the thought of playing one.  But in practice… ehhhhhhh.  I died a lot, honestly, because there are so many buttons I don’t understand.

I chatted with one of my regular heroic/LFR buddies about what class I should pick.  He chose his paladin for some reason and sent the Scroll to his other account.  I continued to ponder.  Finally, I decided to just go for it and pick a rogue.  I knew it was the only way I would level one.

And so, without further ado(I say that a lot, don’t I?), I present… Tamirra/Allessity.

WoW: The Ironman Challenge

I found my way to a post on the forums regarding an Ironman Challenge (which I read about on Kamalia’s blog at some point as well) and I started to wonder if I could do it.  I mean, in theory, it shouldn’t be too hard to just level and…

oh.  Right.  Then I read the requirements.

It’s a pretty interesting idea.  There are definitely some parts of the rules that I might have a hard time with.  Let’s break it down quickly:

WootLoots: +1!

I interrupt these irregularly scheduled TYI’s to bring you a short commercial break.

JUST KIDDING.

It’s not actually a commercial, but more of a personal endorsement.

Because WoWInsider has been doing the 12 Days of Winter Veil, they have had items donated from a  TCG loot site, WootLoots.com.  As they are clearly endorsed by WoWInsider (and WoWTCGLoot was out of an item I wanted), I decided to give them a shot.

I only wanted two little things at the moment, more Path of Cenarius and my first batch of Path of Illidan.  I ordered, got my email within minutes, and went to redeem my codes.

Uh oh.

“Redemption Code Not Found” on my Path of Cenarius.

I immediately went into panic mode, since I use the husband’s credit card for everything was ready to hear all about getting scammed.

But my Path of Illidan redeemed just fine.

I checked their support section, which mostly covers what to do if your item won’t work in-game, but since I couldn’t even redeem the code, I filled out their contact form.

Within five minutes, I had two emails containing Path of Cenarius codes in my inbox.  Hmmmmm.  Those emails were followed by:

Wow.  This was truly excellent customer service.  Extremely fast response time, admission of error, a resolution, and something extra for the inconvenience.

As a first-time customer, I am extremely satisfied and couldn’t wait to post about my enjoyable interaction with them.

So hats off to you, WootLoots.  I can’t wait to convince the husband that I need more silly digital items so I can order more!

TYI Day 8: Vacation Spot

Through Your Interface (TYI) is the brainchild of Saz.  It’s a bit old (apparently started in May?!) but I’ve been meaning to do it for awhile.  A post a day for 15 days detailing special moments, places, and other minutiae about your characters.

Until WotLK came out, I always had my vacation spot picked: Zangarmarsh!  This may come as a surprise to people that know me, since Zangarmarsh is clearly full of water, humidity, and enormous bugs.  But I think I could get past that.  The soft blue tones, the huge mushrooms, and beautiful flora (not to mention the adorable sporebats!!) really drew me in.

But then… Wrath of the Lich King dropped.

TYI Day 7: Screenshot of the Year

Through Your Interface (TYI) is the brainchild of Saz.  It’s a bit old (apparently started in May?!) but I’ve been meaning to do it for awhile.  A post a day for 15 days detailing special moments, places, and other minutiae about your characters.

As someone who takes an obscene amount of screenshots, it took me a long time to pick out some of my favorite picks.  I know it asks for one but… I couldn’t pick just one!  Because my computer is a bit… meh… I run with a lot of settings turned down, so my screenshots are not what they could be.

TYI Day 6: Favorite Line of Poetry/Lyric

Through Your Interface (TYI) is the brainchild of Saz.  It’s a bit old (apparently started in May?!) but I’ve been meaning to do it for awhile.  A post a day for 15 days detailing special moments, places, and other minutiae about your characters.

This is probably going to be the hardest day for me!  Not because I don’t have any favorites of these things but because my favorite songs don’t have lyrics.

So I figured I would grab a song by my favorite artist, BT, that I’ve really been digging and use lyrics from that, since they somewhat apply to Tanwen.

TYI Day 5: Title of Choice

Through Your Interface (TYI) is the brainchild of Saz.  It’s a bit old (apparently started in May?!) but I’ve been meaning to do it for awhile.  A post a day for 15 days detailing special moments, places, and other minutiae about your characters.

While I have many characters that I do many things on, I only “collect” things (mounts, pets, and achievements) on Real Tanwen.  That being said, I couldn’t pick just one title to display.
